Chanukah

Chanukah, also known as the festival of lights, celebrates the miracle that happened in the temple where only a couple drops of oil lasted us eight days! Families light the menorah for 8 days in order to remember the incredible miracle that happened for the jewish people in the holy temple thousands of years ago!

Facial Oil

Story Time!

Leah loved Chanukah! So much so that she looked forward to these 8 nights all year long! This year during chanukah when her and her family were lighting the candles, Leah's Grandpa told her the story of Chanukah. He told her how one day after a hard fight, when the maccabees came back home after winning back their Holy Temple, they saw that only a little bit of oil was left. Miraculously, this oil burned for 8 whole days! Leah smiled and realized that chanukah isn't about lighting candles and getting gifts, it's about hope and believing that even when times are tough and dark, there is always light ahead!

01.

Lighting Candles

Each night of Chanukah, light one more candle on the menorah until all eight candles are lit on the last night. Start with the shamash (helper candle), and use it to light the others.

02.

Say the Blessing

As you light the menorah, say the blessings to thank God for the miracle of Chanukah and for bringing light into your home.

Colorful Dreidel

03.

Play Dreidel

Spin the dreidel, a four-sided top with Hebrew letters, to play the traditional game. Each letter stands for a phrase: "A great miracle happened there." Players win or lose pieces of gelt (chocolate coins) based on how the dreidel lands.

Donuts

04.

Latkes and Sufganiyot

Enjoy traditional Chanukah foods fried in oil, like latkes (potato pancakes) and sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts), to remember the miracle of the oil.
